Defect Comparison is one of Inspectorio Sight’s most groundbreaking tools, providing a new level of insight into the relative occurrence of defects between different factories, inspection types, and more.
Defect Comparison is contained within the Comparison Analytics tool, which allows stakeholders to take a deeper dive into defects by comparing two different factories or other objects/factors against one another. By displaying the pertinent metrics of each in a graphically intuitive way, it is possible to quickly obtain the data necessary to make decisions. You can select one of the following comparison factors, then choose two different objects to compare within it:
- Inspection executor
- Inspection type
- Oversight office
- Product line
While the General Comparison tool provides comparative metrics for inspections, packaging, and other categories, the Defect Comparison tool displays an immediately understandable graphical treatment of the number of defects associated with each object (E.g. Factory, Inspection type etc). The number of defects is represented by a Venn diagram, with each circle of a certain size displaying a certain number of defects, and with accompanying lists showing the top 10 most common defects found.
For example, if you are a brand or retailer, you may wish to compare the defect rates between two factories producing the same product. You would simply select “Factory,” then choose the two facilities from drop-down menus. Immediately, the Defect Comparison tool will display the number of defects in each, as well as the Venn diagram showing the overlap of defects common to both facilities. This makes it clear what challenges need to be addressed across multiple facilities, allowing you to be resource-efficient in addressing problem areas.
One of the primary benefits of Inspectorio Sight is its ability to nurture strong relationships between factories, vendors, and brands and retailers by laying a framework for mutual trust — in some cases enabling the empowerment of high-performance factories to perform self-inspections, to the mutual benefit of all parties. The Defect Comparison tool can also be used as a quick check on the quality of these self-inspections. For instance, it is possible to compare defects found during FRI and in-line verification inspections directly with the defects found during self-inspections conducted by the vendor or factory. By choosing “Inspection type” as the comparison factor, then comparing self-inspections vs. final random inspections for a certain factory, it becomes immediately clear through the overlap graphic if final random inspections are uncovering defects that self-inspections are missing. This gives you the power to directly compare how your vendor and factory partners are performing inspections in comparison to your internal QA teams, or inspections through third party inspection agencies. In doing so, this gives you greater insight into the trustworthiness of the results coming from these self-inspections.
Inspectorio Sight goes beyond simply providing you with data — our analytics deliver actionable insights in as few steps as possible. By comparing defects in this way, it becomes possible to quickly comprehend otherwise complex processes and make informed decisions to improve quality, reduce defects, and help your brand’s bottom line.
